The Carbon Challenge
EcoLogistics “plugs-in” to each of these challenges because our system provides an economical way to measure the carbon emissions and reduction opportunities that exist in every construction project. Since carbon emissions measurement can be calculated and scientifically verified, carbon emissions are an effective way to measure the energy efficiency of any construction project. Strategies and materials that emit more carbon require more energy to produce and install. Since the cost of energy is volatile, less efficient projects have a higher risk of cost escalation and are inherently more expensive to build.
Co-benefits:
As we analyze each project and identify efficiencies in the process we are generally sourcing from closer distances, using less energy and reducing wear and tear on the infrastructure systems. Local sourcing promotes local economies and provides additional benefits to the communities that will experience the construction process. Local sourcing can also reduce the time necessary to deploy resources and materials to the project which creates time/labor savings as well.
